When to use which

SHAREit to pass a few photos to a friend on the street. ZiggSend to move what you can’t lose to your computer: no ads, a cable from Android to Mac, and every file verified.

Measured, not promised. 22 GB in 184 files with 0 failures from an Android to a Mac over a USB 2 cable (about 28 MB/s); an 806 MB video over home Wi-Fi in 46 s; up to 49.7 MB/s over Wi-Fi from a Mac to an iPhone. Every file is checked against the original on arrival. How we measure.

Phone app always free. Computer: 30 days free.

The phone apps are always free. The computer app is 30 days free with everything unlocked — several phones, full history, automatic folders, up to 3 computers — then $4.99, paid once.

Questions people actually ask

Is SHAREit safe?

India banned it in 2020 (along with 58 other apps), and security researchers (Trend Micro, 2021) reported vulnerabilities in the app. Your call; ZiggSend doesn’t upload your files and asks only for what it needs: local network, camera to read the QR code, photos and notifications.

Does SHAREit compress files?

It doesn’t say. What does matter: the ads and the lack of any advertised verification.

Does ZiggSend work without internet?

Yes: to transfer, your local Wi-Fi is enough (or a cable, from Android to Mac), no internet needed.
